The social media space in real estate is here to stay. That’s not news to anyone. Sales agents are always looking for new ways to drive their brand, improve their profile and increase their presence in this always expanding network.
But why do so many Property Managers shy away from building their social media presence? Don’t get me wrong, there are some awesome PM’s and BDM’s out there who actively building their personal brands and in turn building their businesses, but often when our team asks the question around ‘building a brand on social’ it falls into the ‘too hard’ basket.
But like it or not, your potential (and even existing) clients are judging before they even get in contact with you. This includes checking you and your business out on social media, not to mention scrutinising your google reviews, websites, property marketing … the list goes on. It’s probably no surprise that up to 80% of opinions are formed about you from what people found out online.
So here are some quick tips to get your social media space more active:
- Make sure your LinkedIn profile is complete, has a professional photo and information about you, including your contact details.
- Post short, relevant information on Facebook that your clients want to read (or view!). It’s not about the property, but more about what’s happening in your local area. Make sure there is a call to action too. The aim is to get your posts liked and shared.
- Instagram is all about quality images, hashtags and @mentions. Be creative and focus on the solutions you provide, not on the product your sell. It’s a great way to let your clients in behind the scenes.
- Video is key to successful content. Make them short and sweet, because only 10% of videos get watched from beginning to end.
Remember, when it comes to social media, don’t let perfect get in the way of good. Be engaging, personal, authentic knowledgeable and most importantly consistent.
