Are You Being Honest?

Sep 15, 2016

Very often in life or work there is an excuse, a complaint, we wish we had, wish we were, we could do, could be, or could change. We tell ourselves stories about why it can’t happen, how long it would take, why we can’t change, perhaps blaming it on other people and external factors, which is what keeps us from moving forward.

At Real+, the word “CAN’T” does not exist in our vocabulary. There is always a way, sometimes we just need to look further, step outside our comfort zone, we just need to find a way to make things work. Part of this process, is taking an honest look at ourselves.

The key to positive change within yourself, your work, and life in general starts with being honest with yourself. It’s important that you take an honest look at where you are, where you want to be, and what you need to do to get there.

So, let’s start by being honest with ourselves. 2016 will be over before we know it, so it’s time to ask yourself, are you on track to achieve what you wanted this year? Have your goals diminished into the too hard basket? Have you been trying hard but still not reaching your goals? Be brutally honest with yourself. You’re not fooling anyone except you.

The truth can often be a little uncomfortable but it’s important to be honest with yourself. In doing so, you ensure you are constantly moving forward towards your goals. So as this week wraps up, ask yourself honestly, did you achieve what you wanted to achieve this week?

If so, congratulate yourself and plan for bigger and better next week. If not, that’s okay, but it’s time to take a moment to ask yourself “why not?” Instead saying you ‘can’t’ and blaming external factors, change your mindset and find what you can do to achieve your goals. You may be just surprised at what you can achieve.
